Microsoft's latest generation 2-in-1 device — the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 — is now just a few days away from being officially launched.
The impending release date has, of course, stirred the rumor mills once again as a last hoorah of speculations regarding its hardware specifications and features have now spread online.
The company has already been sending out invitations for its big launch event, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, Oct. 27 in New York City. Microsoft is expected to launch several new devices during the event, and the complay will allegedly include the highly anticipated new tablet laptop.
Aside from rumors, the huge discounts for older generation Surface Pro devices have also been seen as another indication that the Surface Pro 5 could indeed be launched during the event. Several retail websites have now offered different discounts in what looks like an attempt to unload their older stocks. The older Surface Pro 3 is seeing a discount of up to $200, while the previous generation Surface Pro 4 is now being offered with up to $150 in discounts.
As for the rumored specs of the upcoming new device, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to be coming with Intel's latest generation processor, the Intel Kaby Lake CPU.
The new powerful and highly efficient CPU is likely to be paired with an ample 8 GB of RAM or a possible 16 GB of RAM. The device will also be offered with different internal storage options.
The new Surface Pro 5 is also likely to be sporting a redesigned new Surface Pen that will be fully rechargeable. The older Surface Pen was often ridiculed for its use of standard batteries despite the availability of the more prominent rechargeable options.
It is also possible that the new Surface Pen can be charged wirelessly by docking it onto the laptop itself.
In any case, users will likely be able to find out the real score with the new Surface Pro 5 during Microsoft's upcoming launch event.
