Microsoft Surface Phone rumors, features, specs: New patent leaked, Microsoft India president shares about Surface projects

Rumors about the specs and features of the Microsoft Surface Phone never end. Tech enthusiasts still believe that the device will be released soon. Recently, a new patent that is reportedly for the phone was spotted online. Apart from that, a statement from a Microsoft executive seems to confirm that a device will be out soon.

A new patent for a Microsoft Surface Phone has recently emerged, revealing the haptic engine of the foldable device. The figure shows two separate housing units. Since the device will be thin, only one of the units will contain the haptic element. The patent also shows that the haptic feedback will be placed near the hinge.

Although this can be an indication that the project is still alive, there is no confirmation if the patent will indeed be used for a Microsoft Surface Phone. The patent was filed on Aug. 18, 2016, by Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLC, and it was published on Dec. 26.

MSPowerUser notes that the patent suggests that the company has been trying to solve smaller problems of the device. The website also points out that even after producing a project, it can still end up getting canceled. Hence, Microsoft Surface Phone fans need to wait for the official confirmation of the company.

In another news, president of Microsoft India Anant Maheshwari revealed in a statement during a Media and Analyst event that he does not agree with talking about the "last words" of the Surface phone. Others translate it as a hint that there is a possibility that the phone will be out in the future.

Maheshwari also said that they are currently focused on the Surface line of products that includes Surface Hub, the Surface Studio, the Surface Book, and the Surface Pros. When it comes to mobile phones, he said that they "are working with all the major OEMs and OS players to create new applications and experiences." He added that they want people to have access to all Microsoft apps and services on the mobile form.
