It looks like Maddie Ziegler is getting serious with acting. Media outlets are reporting that the dance prodigy will officially be leaving "Dance Moms" to pursue the field and the upcoming season of the Lifetime series will be her last.

Ziegler, who is considered the star student of dance instructor Abby Miller, is one of the show's original cast members when it first hit the small screen in 2011. For a while now, the 13-year-old dance superstar has been hinting her craving to try "bigger and better things."

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ziegler stated that "I definitely want to be moving more into acting. Still keeping up my dancing, but also movies and scripted TV shows." During a chat with Teen Vogue, she admitted she wanted to try singing too so she can be a "triple threat."

In fact, Ziegler is doing just that. "Dance Moms" season 6 is currently in production and the youngster is absent in a majority of the episodes filmed for it. She was filming her movie "The Book of Henry" where she stars along with Naomi Watts. Colin Trevorrow of "Jurassic World" is the director.

Fans also saw Ziegler showing both her acting and dancing chops in "Pretty Little Liars." She will also be appearing in "Sister," an upcoming film written and directed by Australian singer-songwriter Sia, who Ziegler already worked with in the past.

In fact, Ziegler's appearances in her music videos "Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart" also helped her dance career take off. While she was already a big star when "Dance Moms" premiered, Ziegler's stardom just became unstoppable after that.

As for Ziegler's acting stint with the singer, who has also grown to become her collaborator, a source told US Weekly that "Acting is something she's really excited to pursue and [Maddie] is in high demand."

Lifetime is yet to confirm Ziegler's exit from "Dance Moms" but fans can catch her dance with the Abby Lee Dance Crew when the show premieres its sixth season on Jan. 5.
