The iMac Pro has been officially released this week, ending the year with yet another premium tech offering from Apple. With the launch of the latest premium desktop PC, reports have surfaced that the Cupertino-based tech firm is developing another workstation machine expected to arrive in 2018. The company has yet to announce the details about the next MacBook Pro refresh, but the iMac Pro features serve as hints on what to expect from the laptop.

According to MacRumors, Apple appears to be committed to its promise that a new MacBook Pro will be out soon. Earlier this year, the company mentioned that the Mac Pro will undergo a major redesigning, in which the 2018 version will have a modular setup. Of course, users can also expect impressive specs upgrade in the upcoming MacBook Pro refresh, although the extent of the hardware boost remains speculative at this point.

Speaking of the modular setup for the MacBook Pro 2018, it is speculated that Apple will bring back the old tower design sported by the 2006 to 2012 Mac Pro models. It is also likely that the new MacBook Pro will get a case that could be opened by adjusting a lever at the rear portion of the laptop.

Following the arrival of iMac Pro in the market, Apple has issued a press release that reveals the company's future plans for its computer collection. The final sentences of the press release talked about its next project after the iMac Pro, which is "a completely redesigned, next-generation Mac Pro." This laptop targets the professional users that will require the best performance in their respective field. Furthermore, Apple claims that the 2018 MacBook Pro will get a "modular" and "upgradeable" design, not to mention its "high-end pro display."

Venture Beat suggested that Apple may switch back to the larger chassis for the MacBook Pro 2018, similar to the older models prior to the 12-inch 2013 Mac Pro laptop. An expanded chassis would make the laptop capable of holding any upgrades in internal CPU, GPU, and RAM.

Other rumors claim that the MacBook Pro 2018 will boast a monitor upgrade to support the 4K display. To note, the 2017 MacBook Pro version sports 2,880x1,800 pixels resolution in the 15.4-inch model, while the 13.3-inch laptop has 2,560x1,600 resolution. Still, some users feel that Apple is already lagging behind its rivals like Dell, Asus, and HP — which are now offering 4K display laptops.
