Apple MacBook Pro fans are now eagerly anticipating an updated version of the company's premium laptop, rumored to be made available by the end of the second quarter of this year. Fans have high hopes that the latest iteration will be bringing in the latest Intel Skylake processor.

It is highly speculated that the 13-inch and 15-inch models of the MacBook Pro will now be fitted with the sixth-generation Intel chips. In 2015, both laptops were refreshed with a Force Touch trackpad feature, plus a Broadwell Intel chip for the smaller MacBook Pro. The bigger model stayed with its previous-generation Haswell chip, the fourth generation.

Macrumors has reported that an appropriate Skylake processors pricelist was already released by Intel last September for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, while by mid-January, the pricelist for the 15-inch variant was announced. A new set of mobile Xeon E3 chips are also possible for the bigger MacBook Pro. Either way, with a new generation of processors installed, it will offer a big boost in performance for both laptops. And if everything will go smoothly, Apple fanatics will be rejoicing during the Worldwide Developers Conference that is set to happen by mid-June.

9To5Mac added that Apple is working on thinner MacBook Pro laptops, as thin as the MacBook Air. If this proves to be true, this will be an engineering feat for the Cupertino-based tech giant. The super thin MacBook Pros first surfaced back in November 2015 -- a Chinese website, UDN, first reported it.

Currently, both MacBook Pro models are offering Retina and non-Retina displays, Force Touchpad Trackpad, PCIe flash storage, and a dual band a/c Wi-Fi. It is also offering more than nine hours of battery life and at less than a quarter-inch thick. However, since the Retina and non-Retina displays are of almost of the same price, it is also highly speculated that all MacBook Pro's future releases will all be Retina display-capable.

The current price range for the 13-inch variant is between US$1,300 to US$1,800, while the 15-inch variant goes from US$2,000 to US$2,500.
