In the next episode of "Lethal Weapon," Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) wants to get a promotion from Capt. Brooks Avery (Kevin Rahm).

The trailer and promotional photos for the upcoming installment, which is titled "Diggin' Up Dirt," were just released recently, and they show Murtaugh taking on some criminals and blowing up a car in the process. His partner Martin Riggs (Clayne Crawford) looks at him with approval and congratulates him for doing a great job.

Apparently, Murtaugh is stepping up in the workplace as he wants to get a promotion from Avery. "You should be asking me to be the captain," he says to Avery who looks dumbfounded. It seems he is aspiring to move up the ladder and become like Avery. He does not want to be just an agent, but instead, he wishes to take on more responsibilities.

Murtaugh starts asserting himself with his partner. "I want you to see me as an authority," he says to the laid-back Riggs. It seems that the elderly cop is stepping up in the wardrobe area as he struts down wearing dark sunglasses and a formal leather jacket. It appears that he wants to be more of an authoritative figure. Back at the office, he tries to push his weight on Riggs and says, "That was not a request." However, Riggs just laughs in his face, turns around, and ignores him. It remains to be seen if Murtaugh will be considered for any kind of promotion.

In the last episode, the partners were able to catch the culprits who killed a professional counterfeiter. It also turned out that Secret Service agent Peterson (Ernie Hudson) was involved in the conspiracy. They caught all the perpetrators and brought them to justice.

"Lethal Weapon" season 2 episode 12 will arrive on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
