Lauren Schmidt Hissrich to write 'Witcher' series for Netflix

"The Witcher" Netflix series is still a go. The giant streaming company will be bringing in Lauren Schmidt Hissrich who wrote Marvel's "Daredevil" and "The Defenders."

Seven months after the initial announcement made by Netflix in May, the streaming company has finally found a writer for their upcoming original series. "The Witcher" will now be written by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

According to IMDb, Hissrich is well known for producing two Marvel shows: "The Defenders" in which she was co-executive producer for eight episodes and "Daredevil" as also the co-executive producer for 13 episodes. As a writer, Hissrich wrote five episodes for "The Defenders" and three episodes for "Daredevil."

Hissrich was also co-executive producer for the TV series "Power" for eight episodes. "Power" is an American crime-drama thriller starring the rapper Curtis Jackson, also known as "50 Cent."

Hissrich also worked for TV series "Parenthood" and "Do No Harm." She was the shows' supervising producer and produced 12 and three episodes for the shows, respectively.

With her extensive background for writing and producing shows, fans of "The Witcher" book series and game shall be expecting a very well-made show. Netflix has so far not revealed an exact date for when the show might release.

"The Witcher" is a series of fantasy books originally written by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The first book in the series is titled "The Last Wish" and was published in 1993.

"The Witcher" book series revolves around the protagonist named "Geralt of Rivia." Geralt is one of the few remaining "witchers" or warlock (male witch) in the Continent.
