L.A. Lakers trade rumors 2016: Team willing to buy out Nick Young's contract?

According to the latest Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors, the team is adamant on trading off Nick Young and are looking for even the slightest opportunity there is to do so.

Earlier this year, Young got into a feud with D'Angelo Russell, who, as a prank, recorded him talking about cheating on his then-girlfriend Iggy Azalea. The video found its way online, which led to their breakup.

Young is reportedly talking it out with Russell and the team, but as per the trade rumors, restoring the friendship won't cut it as the Lakers are already resolute on letting go of the 31-year-old.

According to Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report, the Lakers are willing to buy out the shooting guard's contract if they can't trade him off.

"I would frankly be surprised if Nick Young is on the Lakers' roster at the start of the season. They've been trying to trade him for a while," Ding wrote.

"They're still trying to trade him. They are willing to even buy him out if necessary to move on," he went on to write, suggesting that Young might be looking for a new home this season.

Young is two years into his four-year $21 million contract with the Lakers who were impressed by his performance off the bench. That means there is still $11 million left in the contract.

So far, nothing has been made official with regards to Young's possible exit from the team. However, there are already Lakers trade rumors claiming he is headed to Brooklyn Nets.

As per reports, the Nets can bring in Young to strengthen its scoring play along with newcomer Jeremy Lin. Sportrageous says that he can boost the wing rotation as well.

If the Nets develop the interest, the willingness of L.A. to move Young won't make the deal complicated. However, the former has no particular trade assets to offer, but might still strike a deal through their second round picks.
