Pop singing sensation Katy Perry encapsulates fun and flamboyance in her songs, but when she's not performing on stage, the singer has a serious and reflective side too.

Perry recently visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, where the concentration camps Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau are located, and she admitted that her heart felt "heavy" recalling the millions of lives who suffered and died during the Holocaust.

She posted a photo of the site on her Instagram account (@katyperry) and wrote: "My heart was heavy today."

Perry also copied the text from the site's main memorial plague which said: "For ever let this place be a cry of despair and a warning to humanity, where the Nazi murdered about one and a half million men, women and children mainly Jews from various countries of Europe. Auschwitz - Birkenau 1940-1945."

She also quoted George Santayana who said, "The one that does not remember history is bound to live through it again."

The singer is currently on her Prismatic World Tour, and has gone to Milan, Italy, Prague, Poland, and Vienna.

Perry has been actively sharing photos of her tour, and it seems like the singer is having a lot of fun visiting popular tourist attractions.

When in Europe, museum visits are a must, and the fashionable singer naturally had to visit the Gucci Museo. In her post, she wrote "When I die bury me inside the Gucci... Museum."

In another photo, she and her assistant also gave funny faces alongside Botticelli's famous painting The Birth of Venus while in a different photo she appeared to be chomping down on The Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Perry deemed Florence as "one of the most magical places we've ever been & now takes a spot in my top 5 fav places ever!"

In her selfie, she lauded the city for "preserving yourself so finely & not letting corporate companies bulldoze your historical streets."
