Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez latest news: Selena's mom 'diaspproves' but 'not interfering'

Fans may be gushing about the rekindled romance of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, but there's one person who is not happy about their relationship.

Mandy Teefey recently had a chat with GossipCop concerning her relationship with her daughter, and although she admits that she's not happy with her daughter's reunion with Bieber, she told the entertainment site that she has no plans to interfere on her daughter's life.

"Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy," Teefey said. "She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed. Selena is an adult and can make her own choices."

Recent reports have been circulating that the Wolves singer and her mother are currently in a strained relationship since they both unfollowed each other on Instagram. Speculations are also rife that the reason for their argument is due to Gomez's decision to get back with Bieber, who is her on-and-off boyfriend since 2010.

However, an inside source told PEOPLE that the recent estrangement between mother and daughter wasn't just because of Bieber. The source added that it's not the first time Mandy and Selena had a disagreement, and that Selena is mainly giving her mom some space.

Apparently, the other close members of Selena's family are also anxious about the singer's reunion with Bieber, but the Never Say Never hitmaker is determined to prove to Selena's loved ones that he's different and more matured this time around.

Various reports are touting that Justin and Selena are regularly having counseling sessions from their Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz about their relationship. An Insider also spills that Justin is really serious about making it work with Selena this time, so they both seek guidance from their pastor in order for their reunion to strengthen and be closer to God.

And while Gomez's family may be slightly anxious about their reunion, Justin's family has nothing but love for the popular singer. The "What Do You Mean" singer's mother Pattie Mallette recently told in an interview that he always supports his son and whoever he loves.

"I support anything [he does], if he loves her I love her, and I've met her and we have a special bond so I think she's precious," Malette told PEOPLE last December.
