iPhone 8 release date news, specs rumors: New iPhone switching to wireless charging?

Apple has been renowned for their efforts in pushing the envelope of innovation by providing extremely user friendly devices. One of the ways the company has been doing this has been through the removal of several standard features.

Some decisions, however, have proven to be a hit-and-miss, as was the case of the decision to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack on the latest iPhone.

Meanwhile, new reports have now suggested that the next iPhone may be going completely wireless, as it may be sporting a wireless charging feature that would altogether negate the need for a charger to be plugged into the device.

Wireless charging isn't really something new in the bigger smartphone market. Samsung actually already includes this feature on their latest smartphone offerings, namely for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Apple may already be late to the party when it comes to the technology, but an iPhone with wireless charging capabilities is still very much welcomed by most Apple users. The recently released iPhone 7 was previously rumored to come with wireless charging, but that unfortunately didn't happen for some apparent reason.

The news of the addition of wireless charging on the new iPhone comes from a report by Foxconn Technology in Taiwan. The company is apparently busy creating wireless modules for Apple, according to Nikkei.com. Sources close to the companies did say that it still is yet to determined if the feature will make it to the next iPhone as it will depend on "whether Foxconn can boost the yield rate to a satisfactory level later on."

Aside from negating the need for a charging port, several rumors have also claimed that several other elements in the next iPhone might be absent from the device itself. The next iPhone has been rumored to be free from bezels, a home button, and a physical fingerprint scanner. The device will reportedly be featuring an edge-to-edge screen up front, with the home button and fingerprint scanner embedded within the display.
