Ever since NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment first announced the upcoming fighting game sequel, "Injustice 2," back in June, there haven't really been any updates regarding the game's development. Fortunately, NetherRealm's Ed Boon has kept fans at bay with his constant social media posts and teasers, which includes different polls that fans can vote in. Now, Boon has released the results of his latest polls, where he had asked fans to vote for the characters they want to be added to the game when it finally comes out.

Similar to its predecessor, "Injustice: Gods Among Us," the upcoming new video game is expected to feature characters from other franchises. As of the moment, some characters from "Mortal Kombat X" have been rumored to be part of the game, including characters such as Jax, Raiden and Johnny Cage. Several other DC characters have also been confirmed, including Deadshot and Blue Beetle.

Boon recently posted two separate polls asking fans to vote for the new characters they want to be added to the game. The first poll asked fans to choose the best "Mortal Kombat" character they want to see added to the game, while the other one asked them to suggest a third-party character. With almost 20,000 participants in the first poll, Sub Zero was revealed to be the most popular choice. As for the third-party character, it seems like Spawn is in the lead, followed by other characters such as Hellboy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the Terminator. Given how Boon and NetherRealm Studios give in to fan requests, it seems highly likely that the characters who won the poll would indeed be coming out in the upcoming game.

"Injustice 2" is expected to be released sometime in 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Several reports have also claimed that the game may be coming out for Nintendo's upcoming new console, the Nintendo Switch. The claim is based on the recent statements from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, where they mentioned that they were planning to make games for the new gaming system.
