There is still a long way to go until the premiere of "Homeland" season 7 but more reports keep coming as to what fans can expect and who to expect in the upcoming season. Dylan Baker from "The Good Wife," Morgan Spector from "The Mist," and "Rosewood" star Mackenzie Astin have recently been announced to join the cast.

As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Baker will be playing a maverick senator from the Southwest named Sam Paley who will be leading an aggressive investigation into President Keane's (Elizabeth Marvel) administration. Alongside Baker, Astin will be playing Carrie's (Claire Danes) brother-in-law Bill, a university professor who becomes employed at the Department of Treasury under Keane's administration as well.

Morgan Spector, known for his roles on "Boardwalk Empire" and most recently "The Mist," will also be joining the cast for season 7 of "Homeland." Spector will be playing Dante Allen, and old friend of Carrie's who will also be investigating President Keane and the 200 people she has detained.

Previously, actors Jake Weber, Linus Roache, and Maury Sterling have been announced as series regulars for the show. Their promotion to series regular served to fill in the void left by Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend), who was killed in the previous season. Since Quinn not only served as Carrie's partner in work and in love, it is being speculated that Dante may be her new love interest in the upcoming installment.

Plot-wise, it seems that season 7 will see Bill making things a lot complicated for Carrie in the coming season. Knowing that Bill left his job at the university to work for Keane, and knowing where Carrie stands with the current President, a lot of conflict will arise. According to Inquisitr, Keane will wage war against the country's intelligence agencies ever since the attempt on her life. Keane may use Bill to trap Carrie and get her to work on their side.

Consumed with paranoia, Keane began to detain people without due process, even so far as shutting out people in her circle, Carrie included.

"Homeland" season 7 is expected to premiere in 2018 on Showtime.
