Fans of the popular game franchise Half-Life are questioning when the next installment, Half-Life 3, will come out. Half-Life 2: Episode Two, the last game that was released under the franchise, was released eight years ago.

Rumors regarding the game's development have recently surfaced due to what was then believed to be a Half-Life 3 logo. The image went automatically viral and rumors of the possible game release hyped up the FPS community. A lot were hopeful that a game release announcement will happen during the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which was concluded three weeks ago. However, no announcement during E3 was made.

Valve, game developer for Half-Life, Left 4 Dead and Counter-Strike, denied that they released the logo and killed the rumors that the company is developing another Half-Life game.

However, during E3, Valve programer Jeep Barnett had an interview with Nathan Grayson from Kotaku regarding Valve's development of another Half-Life game. "We're not saying no," the programmer said. "but we don't know what the right thing is [yet]. Our most precious resource is time, and we don't have enough time for people to do everything," he added.

Gabe Newell, Valve con-founder and managing director pitched in his thoughts regarding the creation of Half-life 3. In a podcast with Geoff Keighley, the Newell said that the only reason that the corporation goes back to a "super classic kind of product" is if a Valve employees decide that they want to do it and can provide a good reason for why they want to.
