The production for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" may already be complete, but the trailer for the sequel will not be out and about anytime soon.

Director James Gunn revealed on Facebook via his reply to a fan in the comment section of his fan art post that the trailer for the movie will be here "not for a little while."

He also addressed the same subject in a recent Facebook Question & Answer session, where he said that the first look at "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will take place "not too long" but also "not too soon."

Fans were disappointed that no footage was revealed at the San Diego Comic Con last month. Around that time, the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" filming was already complete.

It was extra frustrating for many as clips for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Thor: Ragnarok" – both films still in production – were shown at the event.

Either way, it looks like the wait for the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" trailer will be worth it so fans will just have to prolong their patience a little more.

Meanwhile, Gunn also revealed in the same Q&A session that another Guardian was supposed to appear in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" other than Mantis (Pom Klementieff).

"In my initial treatment I had a whole other Guardian involved. I loved the character and loved including him/her, and thought my take was fun," Gunn explained.

"But I started to feel that there were two [too] many characters in the story and for all of the characters to get their due, I needed to remove one. So this character left, and Mantis stayed," he went on to say.

He did not give more clues as to the identity of this Guardian or if this mystery character will appear in future films. But with a third "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie already greenlit, this character might show up there instead.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed by actor Vin Diesel (the voice of Groot) that Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the crew will be part of "Avengers: Infinity War," which hits the big screen in 2018.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" releases May 5, 2017.
