A new update to the popular "Grand Theft Auto" franchise was released on Tuesday, Dec. 12 for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4. "The Doomsday Heist" is "GTA V Online" mode's biggest update yet, Rockstar Games claims on their official site.

"The Doomsday Heist" follows the adventures of billionaire entrepreneur Avon Hertz. With the help of his artificial intelligence (AI) software named Clifford, Hertz stumbled across concrete evidence that a secret organization is plotting to release a nuclear device that could devastate the world.

Michael's (the "GTA V's" protagonist) right-hand man Lester Crest is then tasked with assembling a team that could take down the said evil organization. It is then up to the player to find a team of 2 – 4 players to accomplish "The Doomsday Heist."

Rockstar Games also revealed that the "The Doomsday Heist" will be comprised of three huge acts that will involve "negotiating multiple ruthless Free mode prep missions, tactical setup operations, and experimental weapons and vehicles." Players will be rewarded with a huge amount of GTA cash at the end of the heist.

These "experimental weapons" include a new Marksman Rifle, Heavy Revolver, SNS Pistol, Special Carbine, Bullpup Rifle, and a new Pump Shotgun. New vehicles include a new Mobile Operations Center, Comet Safari, Ubermacht SC1, Ocelot Pariah, Vapid Riata, a futuristic Khanjali tank, and a Mammoth Thruster jetpack.

"The Doomsday Heist" update will also bring new aircraft called "The Avenger." The aircraft is heavily armed with turrets and can even take-off vertically.

The Verge reports that "The Doomsday Heist" update for GTA V is free like the previous updates to the game.
