The developers of the upcoming action-adventure video game "Gravity Rush 2" has confirmed that the title will be delayed. The original release date for the game has now been moved to a later date due to several reasons that were outlined just recently by the game's director Keiichiro Toyama. Fans, however, need not worry, as the delay itself is just a few weeks after the originally announced release date.

The highly anticipated sequel to the original "Gravity Rush" video game will be released on January 20, 2017 instead of December 2, 2016. Following the announcement of the delay, Toyama posted an update on the official PlayStation Blog explaining their decision. Part of his explanation also hints that they probably did not want the game to be overshadowed by other big titles that are also coming out in the holiday season.

"Though production is proceeding smoothly, the landscape for that release date has changed dramatically. 'Gravity Rush 2' is the conclusion of Kat's journey, so we want players to have enough time to dive deep into her story. In addition, as a lot of work went into online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction, we want as many people as possible playing the title at the same time," Toyama explained.

As compensation for the delay, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that they will be releasing a number of new bonuses for fans in the form of a new downloadable content (DLC) pack and a new anime called "Gravity Rush: The Animation ~ Overture ~."

The DLC expansion pack for the original game will be made available for free to all players and will be telling an additional story which will be taking place in the world of "Gravity Rush 2."

As for the anime, it will be released as a story to fill in the gap between the events that have transpired in the original game and what will be happening in the upcoming sequel. The anime will be produced by Studio Khara, the studio responsible for "Rebuild of Evangelion."
