Google Pixel 2 reboot issues will see fix 'in the coming weeks'

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL devices did not have a particularly perfect launch. Among a slew of bugs and problems, there were issues wherein the phone would just randomly reboot itself. Fortunately, the manufacturer noticed it and they assured users that a fix would be rolled out in the following weeks.

It has been stated in the official Google product forums where more than one thread about the said issue exists. Orrin, a community manager for the Pixel 2 panels said that Google has "identified a fix which will be rolling out in the coming weeks." He posted the reply on the forum thread. He also thanked the community for reporting and providing details about the problem.

If Orrin's forum response is to be believed, the fix can be expected to come from one of two sources. It could be included in the monthly security updates rolled out for the Pixel 2, or it could also be a part of a major Android update.

In any case, this is was not the only problem that has plagued the Pixel 2. On launch, early buyers complained about having screen burn-ins, poor audio recording quality, as well as devices shipping without an installed operating system (OS).

Google has ironed out most of these issues, especially the problems with the OS. However, the reboot issue persists on some devices, and there are various threads on the community forums dedicated to the topic. Orrin's reply was posted on each of these threads as well — an assurance that Google is indeed working on the issue.

Meanwhile, an upcoming Android update will offer something new to Pixel 2 users. Along with various improvements and enhancements, the Android 8.1 update will activate a hidden imaging chip called the "Visual Core." This component is expected to contribute to the Pixel 2's image processing efficiency.
