Game enthusiasts have been waiting for the release of the Sony video game, "God of War." It looks like the long wait will be soon over as two different retail sites have leaked the upcoming title's unofficial release date.

The title's listing on the Greece-based Gamescom retailer revealed that the action-adventure hack and slash video game series will be available on May 23, 2018. The online store also offered the game with 29 percent off the price for just €49.90 or about $57.90.

Although this listing might still raise doubts, a second European retailer listed "God of War" to be available on the said date, VG24 reported. Instead of just the common year of release, these retailers shared the exact date of the game's availability. So, these matching leaks might convince the fans that the title will be out on that day.

Usually, games release date in Europe is a day later than in North America. In fact, this was the same case with "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy," which was released in North America on Aug. 22 and Europe on Aug. 23.

So, if the leaked listings are real, fans can expect "God of War" to be out in the United States on May 22, 2018, Game Revolution pointed out. This date also coincides with the typical release date, which is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, of video games in North America and Europe. However, this will put an exception to the new trend of releasing latest titles on Fridays.

Sony has yet to reveal the official release date of the much-awaited video game, so fans have to take these assumptions with a grain of salt. In fact, the company did not even talk about it at the recent Paris Games Week. However, it gave fans a glimpse of its new trailer featuring Kratos' son Atreus.

"God of War" is expected to be out in 2018 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
