'Girl Meets World' season 3 premiere: Riley and the group are high school bound

"Girl Meets World" has been renewed by Disney Channel for another season. As per Examiner, it was bound to happen since the "Boy Meets World" offshoot presently stands as the top-rated series across every kid-targeted cable network.

"[Creator] Michael Jacobs has one of the most authentic voices in television today," Disney Channel Executive Vice President of Programming Adam Bonnett said in a statement picked up by The Wrap.

Bonnett went on to promise that Jacobs, together with the brilliant team behind the show, "will not only continue to entertain families but also help kids discover who they are and who they want to be in this world."

Production for the brand new season will start in January, although there's not much known about what the future hols for the third run of the hit Disney Channel series except for the fact that Riley and her friends will be out of middle school come "Girl Meets World" season 3.

The new season is set to put the gang in the more complex, complicated and drama-filled world of high school. No concrete details were provided. The show is notable for dealing with themes and issues kids rarely open up about such as autism and cyber-bullying.

Currently, the show is tackling the complications of the love triangle among Lucas, Riley and her best friend Maya. The next episode is titled "Girl Meets the New Year," where Riley's feelings for Lucas she fought hard to get rid of will be revealed in front of everyone during a countdown party.

The episode, which is the last "Girl Meets World" season 2 episode for this year, won't air until Dec. 4. The next time viewers will see Riley, Maya and the lovable posse after that will be in what seems to be another two-part special titled "Girl Meets Stem" and "Girl Meets Sludge" both airing on Jan. 4.
