'Fallout 4' PS4 mods release date news update: Bethesda awaiting word from Sony

The future remains bleak for the "Fallout 4" mods for the PlayStation 4 with developer Bethesda Softworks itself in the dark as well. Bethesda says that it is only awaiting word from Sony about the release.

Like the recently released Nuka World expansion pack for the game, which did not immediately show up on the PlayStation Store, it looks like Sony has the final word on when the mods go out to the PS4 as well.

During the launch of the final DLC for "Fallout 4," Bethesda vice president of public relations and marketing Pete Hines made clarifications on the glitch that greeted PS4 players.

"We don't control other people's platforms," he explained to an aggravated user. "We give the time, but we aren't pushing the buttons," he tweeted.

It is unclear if this is the same with the PS4 mods although Hines implied in the past that they are waiting for Sony to give them updates on the evaluation process.

Two weeks ago, Hines also said on Twitter that no concrete information is on hand with regards to the "Fallout 4" PS4 mods "until evaluation is done there is no way to give a date. We don't have a date when [evaluation] will be done."

Hines and his team appear to be busy with the ongoing PAX West event in Seattle with the "Elder Scrolls Legends" taking center stage. The Bethesda executive is yet to provide a new update.

The "Fallout 4" PS4 mods were originally to be released end of June. However, the feature was sullied with glaring issues including 900MB upload limit (compared to the 2GB on Xbox One).

The mods are also problematic on the sound support and performance issues rendered the feature all in all unfit for rollout. It has been a couple of months since the delay, but it appears that a long wait is ahead of players.
