Fighting inner demons and an all-out musical battle are evident in the upcoming episode of season 4 of "Empire."

Episode 4 of "Empire" season 4 is titled "Bleeding War," and according to the official synopsis, a musical competition is in the works when Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) announces that the number one album of the label's 20-For-20 is going to be a competition between all of the company's top artists.

This competition gives Jamal (Jussie Smollett) an idea for his newest song, but of course he will have to make a really good song in order to win knowing whom he will be up against.

Meanwhile at home, as Bella's first birthday is nearing, the Lyon family will plan a special "Prince and Princesses"-themed birthday party which also includes a tribute to the late Prince. However, the birthday will end up bringing back some memories for one member of the family.

At the same time, the family's patriarch Lucious (Terrence Howard) is at a crossroads, as he attempts to silence the demons from his past. As everyone knows, Lucious has been struggling with his past for so long. It is something that everyone, from the characters to the viewers, want to see happen.

Even before Lucious suffered from amnesia, everyone wanted to have the head of the Lyon family see that there is a different way to live, which does not turn him into a reflection of his dark past. However, it is unlikely that fans will see that anytime soon.

In other news, Henson revealed what else fans can expect from Cookie in the current season. Speaking to Variety, Henson revealed that Cookie's biggest struggle is that Lucious does not remember her and the relationship they had, and that is more painful to her than anything else.

When asked if this new version of Lucious is a man that Cookie will start being attracted to again, Henson revealed that Cookie likes the part of him that cares, however, that is not what made her fall in love with him. If she wanted someone like that, then Cookie would have stayed with some other guy. Henson explained that Cookie's heart is with Lucious and no one else.

Yet, having to deal with Lucious not being able to remember is only one of the problems that Cookie will be facing. The upcoming episode will also see more flashbacks from her time in prison, having been triggered when she was turned down for a loan because of Diana DuBois' (Phylicia Rashad) influence.

Henson revealed that fans can expect to see more of Cookie's time as an inmate and how she managed to adjust. Fans will see how Cookie fought in prison and how she kept her sanity all those years.

"Empire" season 4 will air on Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
