Electoral College map 2016 predictions, latest news: can Trump re-gain ground after losing support?

The current state of play according the latest national polls has now shown presidential candidate Donald Trump in his weakest political position since the start of the entire presidential campaign. The fast talking and often controversial billionaire has continually been losing ground to his opponent, Hilary Clinton, as can be seen in the latest Electoral College map.

According to a report from CNN, Clinton's margin over Trump has now climbed to a solid single digit lead which has never been seen before in the United States' campaign history. It can be argued that a lot of the factors of the sudden shift to Clinton have been due to the way Trump has been running his campaign, and partly due to the recent slew of presidential debates that have pushed some voters to go over the fence to the other side.

Based on the report, several states which have been considered to be reliable solid Republicans have now shifted their preference, with Trump now struggling to rally his supporters in those areas. Arizona is now considered to be a toss-up battleground with votes now up for grabs.

Reports have also speculated that Clinton may be rallying to those areas in the coming days together with her high profile surrogates which include Michelle Obama, Bernie Sanders, and her daughter Chelsea.

According to the polls, Arizona has now shifted from being a lean Republican state to a battleground state. Utah has shifted from being a solid Republican state to a true battle ground with third-party candidate Evan McMullin now slowly gaining ground. Florida and Nevada on the other hand have shifted from being a battleground to mostly Democrat.

It has to be considered that the current state of play is merely a snapshot of the current voter's mind set and not really a projection of the outcome that will be taking place on Nov. 8.

Both candidates, of course, still have a few more days of non-stop campaigning and it is still yet to be determined if Trump can pull a dramatic political comeback during that time.
