Adidas, along with "Dragon Ball Z," the hit Japanese anime and manga series, announced a shoe collaboration last December 2017. The latest leaks in January show all possible shoe designs from the two companies.
The multinational corporation unveiled seven upcoming shoe designs slated to come to stores this 2018. The number of shoe designs was inspired from the iconic seven dragon balls which the anime series' plot centers on.
While the design number and concept were revealed last December, the seven special edition shoe designs were leaked just recently.
The seven designs are all inspired from different characters of "Dragon Ball Z." In total, the seven characters that will be getting their own shoes are Son Goku, Son Gohan, Vegeta, Frieza, Majin Buu, Cell, and Shenron.
However, Adidas and the "Dragon Ball Z" franchise did not reveal all seven designs at once. One of the earliest reveals of the upcoming series featured the franchise' iconic antagonist, Frieza.
Along with Frieza came the design of another villain, Cell. Adidas made use of the characters' main colors. As such, the Frieza and Cell shoe designs came in purple and forest green colors, respectively.
While these two designs were leaked around the first week of January, the others remained unknown until the third week of the month.
By the third week, leaks show the final set of characters and their respective designs. Among these characters, main protagonists Son Goku and Vegeta led the excitement.
The two shoes feature colors of orange (for Goku) and navy blue (for Vegeta). Shenron, the mythical dragon where the dragon balls are based, was also part of the latest leak.
While this new series of Adidas may seem entirely new, avid buyers of the shoe brand will notice that it used prior designs from its products. This can also be seen in the name of each of the seven shoe designs.
The following shoe models are all accentuated with the respective character colors from "Dragon Ball Z": ZX 500 RM (Son Goku), Deerupt (Son Gohan), Oregon Ultra Tech (Vegeta), EQT MID ADV (Shenron), Adidas Yung 1 (Frieza), Adidas Prophere (Cell) and Kamanda (Majin Buu).
Rumors say that the shoes will be released starting this fall, with other possible characters, namely Mr. Satan, Yajirobe, and Mr. Popo possibly getting their own designs.
