'Dragon Ball Super' episode 23 Gohan in serious danger; Goku and Vegeta join the warfare

Dragon Ball Super Toei Animation

Frieza has returned to a peaceful Earth in a bid to pick a fight with Goku and get revenge. And after wreaking havoc and battering the Z-fighters to kill time, the resurrected tyrant is finally going to get what he came for in "Dragon Ball Super" episode 23.

The episode is ominously titled "Gohan in a Situation of Great Danger," which hints that before the duo, who have been training with Whis to become stronger and more prepared for their showdown with Frieza, can get to the scene, Gohan will continue to fight a losing battle with the vicious enemy.

The danger Gohan will be in as mentioned in the title of the "Dragon Ball Super" episode 23 involves Frieza's torture. When the previous installment ended, Frieza was enraged after Tagoma and Ginyu were defeated by Gohan in Super Saiyan form, urging the villain to make the Z-fighter suffer.

Also in the previous "Dragon Ball Super" installment, Piccolo appeared to have been least horribly marred by a raging Tagoma, who also took down other Z-fighters. He was not looking good by the time the credits rolled.

The episode was also a gripping one owing to the fact that Goten and Trunks were present to join the action. The boys did not appear in the "Resurrection F" movie, much to the dismay of fans. This is why their appearance in the installment was considered as one of the show's biggest moments so far. Captain Ginyu joining to fold is just as great as well, as per Attack of the Fanboy.

The site adds that the previous installment is believed to be one of the show's best episodes with the comedy, drama and action in harmony. Fans can expect much more rapid-fire action as Goku and Vegeta join the warfare.

"Dragon Ball Super" episode 23 airs Dec. 13 on Fuji TV.
