DOTA 2 International 2016 news: TI's largest prize pool yet is $19.4 million; Winners of Wildcard round day 1 are EHOME of China and Escape Gaming of Europe

The International, the biggest e-sports gaming event, is currently transpiring at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington. Hosted by the Valve Corporation, TI6 (The International 2016) beats its own record of having the largest e-sports prize pool with a total of $19.4 million USD.

Prize pool keeps increasing from the past years where it started to only have a prize pot of $1.6 million USD.

According to PC Perspective, a third of the winning pool will be awarded to the first place winners while the rest will be distributed to the other winners of various matches.

The event started on August 2 which held the Wild Card round. A best out of three elimination, two teams made it to play for the Group Stage rounds on August 3.

For the first round, Escape Gaming, a contender of Europe, faced complexity Gaming of America. CompLexity lost two to one.

EHOME of China won their first round battling Execration of South East Asia, with a score of two to one. CompLexity lost again in their match with Execration.

For the second round, EHOME won against Escape Gaming but they won against Execration. The two wild card contenders that earned a place for the Group Stage are EHOME and Escape Gaming.

Group stage will take place for three days starting on August 3 and ending in August 5. Two groups consisting of eight teams will battle it out to get qualified for the Upper Bracket of the Main Event in a best-of-two while each group's bottom four will advance to the Lower Bracket.

Group A teams are OG, Alliance, Wings, Natus Vincere, Evil Geniuses, LGD Gaming, TnC Pro and the wildcard team Escape Gaming while Group B consists of Newbee, Secret, Vici Reborn, MVP Phoenix, Digital Chaos, Fnatic, Team Liquid and the wildcard team EHOME.

The Main Event will transpire for six days, starting on August 8 to August 13. Eight teams from the Upper Bracket and eight teams from the Lower Bracket will play a best-of three match in a double- elimination round while the Grand finals will be a best-of–five match.

The event is currently being broadcasted live on Twitch, Stream Broadcasting, WatchESPN, and YouTube. The games can be viewed in VR if Viewers have a SteamVR-compatible headset.
