'Dishonored 2' release date news, updates: Latest trailer reveals new voice actor for 'The Outsider'

Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks has just recently released a brand new pop-up book-style teaser trailer that showcases the story so far for their upcoming stealth action adventure video game, "Dishonored 2." The trailer comes just a few weeks before the scheduled release date of the game and reveals new locations and the revamped characters that gamers will be playing as.

One of the changes that was immediately noticed by players of the original 2012 "Dishonored" video game is the voice of "The Outsider," who narrates the entire story within the trailer. The original voice of the all-knowing character — who had granted Corvo Attano his powers in the first game — was provided by voice actor Billy Lush.

The studio apparently decided to change the voice actor for the character in the sequel with the more youthful-sounding voice actor Robin Lord Taylor. The change, however, was met with mixed reviews as some fans did not outright welcome the change in the voice casting.

Some fans had expressed their dislike of the new voice and posted their take on the change. Several fans on YouTube mentioned that they really don't like the new voice, while other posted their comments on the game's Steam community forum.

"Don't change major voices without a reason. Chloe Moretz is too young sounding to play an old grizzled Emily, but The Outsider is ageless. Bad call, devs. Bad call," said a fan, who posted his reaction on the game's discussion forum.

According to the developers themselves, the decision was apparently due to scheduling difficulties with Lush. However, this was outright denied by the voice actor, who went on Reddit to reveal that he was not contacted at all and that the studio didn't even provide an explanation as to why he was removed from the project.

Despite the minor change, fans are, of course, still looking forward to the release of the game which will be featuring an entirely new bad-ass and grown-up version of Emily and her father, Corvo.

"Dishonored 2" is scheduled to be released next week on Friday, Nov. 11, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and for Microsoft Windows.
