'Diablo 3' to be possibly re-released on the Nintendo Switch

Despite being released six years ago, "Diablo 3" is still one of the most played role-playing games (RPGs) until today. With the Nintendo Switch only being released last year, it would not be surprising for the game to make a re-release on the said console. In fact, it is happening quite soon.

The news was first reported by one industry insider that has reported on other news about other games, Marcus Sellars. "Diablo 3 is in development for the Nintendo Switch and should be out early 2019," reads the Tweet. "They are wanting to implement Local play with multiple switches."

Sellars himself is quite reputable when it comes to revealing information. Just a few months ago, he also revealed that the next "Legend of Zelda" game will be a remake by Nintendo. However, like this news about "Diablo 3," they have neither been confirmed or debunked. Nevertheless, readers are advised to take this information with a grain of salt.

After all, there are several months more before "early 2019" so there is still a lot of room for announcements. Putting a high-selling game like "Diablo 3" in a high-selling game console like the Nintendo Switch does not seem unlikely, and Blizzard is one company that could definitely do just that.

"Diablo 3" was first released back in 2012 for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC. If the Nintendo Switch rumor is true, Sellars also mentioned that they will be prioritizing local play of up to 10 Switch consoles, thus 10 players.

If "Diablo 3" gets released for the Switch, Blizzard could decide to release their other games for the other console as well. However, this excludes "Hearthstone" which Blizzard already announced would not be made.
