Last week, Nintendo released several games in the Nintendo eShop for the Switch a few days after the Nintendo Labo was introduced to the public. One of these is the role-playing horror game titled "Dark Dungeons," which is set for retail in March.

The indie game by Red Hook Studios will be retailed with the help of game producer, Merge Games. The partnership of the studio with Merge Games will also allow a physical version to be released for the PlayStation 4 (PS4).

Due to the success of the Switch in role-playing games (RPG), as proven by titles like "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" and "I Am Setsuna," many companies have tapped into the console to port their games. "Darkest Dungeons" has been one of the most recent to do so, bringing the title to the Nintendo Switch from Steam.

"Many fans have been clamouring for a physical edition of the game, and Merge Games was the right partner to help us get this done! We're thrilled for people to have the option to buy a retail box," said Tyler Sigman, Co-President of Red Hook Studios, in a statement obtained by The Market for Computer and Video Games (MCV).

The upcoming physical release will also have a twist that gamers would love. Particularly, the retail will have "The Shieldbreaker" and the "The Crimson Court" included. These are the two downloadable contents (DLCs) that were previously separated. The upcoming retail game will have a title of "Darkest Dungeons: Ancestral Edition."

Further news updates include the game's retail price and possible cover art. ContraNetwork, a gaming Twitter page, has recently posted a picture on Twitter regarding the cover art for the Switch and PlayStation. As seen in the cover art, the game might use a set of three adventurers for its cover, retaining the gothic-like art style that the game is known for.

"Darkest Dungeons" has received worldwide accreditation due to its charm as an RPG. It features a turn-based battle system, which has an innovative approach due to the moves having a strategic effect on the enemy.
