'Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy' director working on an 'unannounced game; could it be a 'Spyro the Dragon' remake?

"Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" is one of Activision's most successful titles last year. The three remastered games sold so well, indicating that there is an active market clamoring for game remakes with a polish. Now, the game's director Dan Tanguay is working on an unannounced project, and rumors say that it could likely be another remake of a retro franchise.

Reportedly, Tanguay's LinkedIn profile listed his current status as working on an "unannounced project." There are many speculations regarding what the director is currently working on, but one of the most likely is a remake of a "Spyro the Dragon" game.

Spyro found popularity in Sony with the PlayStation, but Activision actually has the rights for the character currently. Considering how well "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" did in the past year, it is reasonable to say that the company will find success in the classic character.

Of course, Spyro is just part of speculation at this point, and there are other possible games, based on Tanguay's history.

For instance, the director worked with Vicarious Visions studio for "Crash Bandicoot" and the said studio recently had a partnership with Bungie for "Destiny 2." So it is also possible that Tanguay is working on something for the massive multiplayer online game.

However, the "unannounced" part of his LinkedIn profile does not fit "Destiny 2" quite well— it is a highly-publicized game already, after all.

Vicarious Visions studios also worked with titles like "Guitar Hero" and "Skylanders."

"Skylanders" is a likely candidate, but the current climate of he gaming industry seem to indicate the cessation of "toys-to-life" franchises. Disney's "Infinity" has been discontinued, and so is "Lego Dimensions."

Which leads the speculation back to a "Spyro the Dragon" remake. If Activision goes through with it, Spyro fans will have an "unannounced" surprise for this year, indeed.
