Christian singer Blanca, former member of the Group 1 Crew is sharing to her fans how she embraced the real, true her and is encouraging them to follow suit.

"For so many years growing up, I hated my hair. I would ask my mom to put a relaxer in it or take me to the salon to get it straightened. All of my friends had long straight hair and I would feel like the odd ball out," she shared on her Facebook page.

However, as she grew up, Blanca became more mature and realised that it was her big, bouncy, curly hair that made her unique and different. She decided not to change it anymore and instead learned to love her curls.

"When I learned to embrace it, I felt a whole new sense of confidence from within. I was learning to love who God made me to be!" she proclaimed.

The singer has just released her new self-titled album early this May, which includes the popular and uplifting track "Who I Am."

"The heart of my new album is about embracing the way we've been created by God and finding our identity in Him rather than what the world expects of us. My goal is to live by the motto 'Be Real. Be True. Be You,'" she explained.

One of her fellow Christian singers Kari Jobe is extremely proud of Blanca as she releases her new album, and she offered words of encouragement on her Facebook page: "I'm so proud of you Blanca. You dared to dream bigger and chose the road of greatest resistance- yet greatest breakthrough. It took courage and faith and now the sounds released through this project are going to do the same for others. I love you so much."
