Valve's quirky first-person shooter "Portal" will be getting another addition to the franchise, "Bridge Constructor Portal." However, instead of being a direct sequel, it will be a completely different game from the first two.

"Portal" developers have licensed the title to Headup Games, makers of the widely-successful simulation "Bridge Constructor." The result is a bridge-building game that takes place in Aperture Science's vehicle testing labs.

The game was revealed in a video released by Headup games. It showed a 3D animation of an Aperture Science truck traversing a broken bridge, only to fall on a blue portal and then reappear on an orange portal to cross the gap.

The game was described to be a level-based game. It will involve the player in solving puzzles based on bridge engineering and portal physics.

"Bridge Constructor Portal" will possess features that are familiar to both game franchises. Bridge-building will require players to create structures that will support varying vehicle loads. Of course, portals will add exciting twists to the already engaging feats of engineering.

For those who played with the first and second "Portal" games, a familiar being will be present to witness your work. GLaDOS will be present in the game, presumably to scrutinize every aspect of your work.

Headup Games initially found success with "Bridge Constructor," a standalone game that lets players build bridges in 64 different levels. It featured diverse settings like canyons, beaches, mountains, and caverns. Bridges can be made out of wood, steel, cables, and concrete.

Since its release in 2013, "Bridge Constructor" already sold more than a million copies. It currently maintains a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam.

Meanwhile, "Bridge Constructor Portal" is the latest primary game to be released for the beloved Valve franchise. The game will be made available on Dec. 20. It will be released on multiple platforms, including Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Android, and Apple iOS.
