Acclaimed Hollywood director Ridley Scott seems to be running the "Blade Runner" franchise again and already has ideas for a third "Blade Runner" movie after the critical and cult status success of the first two movies.

In an interview with Digital Spy, the 80-year-old director has expressed his ideas for a sequel to "Blade Runner 2049." Scott has also claimed that he is ready to take the helm as the director whenever an opportunity for the next movie arises.

Scott was asked whether there was a scope for a new film in the franchise, to which he replied, "I hope so...I think there is another story. I've got another one ready to evolve and be developed, so there is certainly one to be done for sure." This means fans expecting a follow-up to the mysteries and questions posed by the second movie might just get their queries answered.

Still, Scott might just be trying to be optimistic about the franchise he started since the makers of "Blade Runner 2049" did state that the plot of the second movie was made with no sequels or follow-ups in mind. In addition, the film, like its predecessor, did not live up to box office expectations and did not earn enough revenue to recuperate the cost of production.

Despite performing poorly at the box office though, both films have now entered cult classic status and were lauded by both critics and viewers for painting a bleak but relatable near future for mankind and questioning the very essence of existence. It is also worth noting that the film also left a lot of questions unanswered, which a lot of fans of the franchise are sure to theorize about in the coming years.

So far, no reports have existed discussing a third "Blade Runner" movie, and Scott is apparently also busy with his "Alien" franchise as well as a movie adaptation for "Merlin," King Arthur's mentor and wizard friend. This means that fans may have to wait long before the third "Blade Runner" movie.
