In the past, Ubisoft released new installments in its highly popular "Assassin's Creed" video game series almost every year without fail.
However, the company previously announced that it would be skipping 2016 and that it was going to be taking its time in developing the next game. Now, new reports have revealed that fans might have to actually wait a little bit longer as the new game might not even be coming out in 2017.
There is understandably a lot of excitement for the next installment in the series, most especially with the upcoming live-action movie adaptation of the franchise that will star Michael Fassbender as the protagonist Callum Lynch. Unfortunately, a recent interview with Ubisoft's VP of Editorial — Tommy François — has revealed that the company may not be planning to release a new game just yet.
"We believe Alpha for these games needs to be one year before release. We're trying to achieve that... This is the goal we're going for: Alpha one year before, more quality, more polish... So if this means biting the [bullet] and not having an Assassin's game... [in 2017], f*** it," said François in a recent interview with IGN.
The Ubisoft VP made it very clear that they were going to be taking their time with the next game and that they will be making sure it is completely polished before releasing it. The previously released titles in the franchise did not receive a lot of praise from fans and critics as some of them had actually suffered from errors and glitches, likely due to developers having to step up their timetables to meet deadlines.
The VP's statements have also been interpreted by some fans as confirmation that a new "Assassin's Creed" title may still be a long way off, but some of the more realistic fans are seeing it as a positive sign that the next title will definitely be well worth the wait.
