Apple may start converging iOS and macOS apps in 2018.
According to a Bloomberg source, software developers may be able to start making software applications that will be both compatible with iOS and macOS in 2018. Currently, developers must design two applications that will work with an iPhone or iPad's iOS and a MacBook's operating system, the macOS.
This is very tiresome work for developers, especially when Apple users complain about the macOS not having the same app features and updates with that of the iOS. For example, when the "Night Mode" for the iOS Twitter app was released, it took a good while for the macOS Twitter app to receive the feature.
But, with Apple's plan of creating a single application for both the iOS and macOS softwares, developers may now release new updates and features for the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook all at the same time.
Apple also reportedly plans on making the Mac and iOS App Stores into one. The App Store on the Mac has not been updated since 2014. The Bloomberg source dubbed Apple's secret project "Marzipan," and it will reportedly be released sometime in 2018. The said secret project may also be announced during the next developer's conference in June 2018.
Apple's plans are still fluid, however. Every single aspect of the project could still change, and it may even be canceled.
In other news, Apple admits they are slowing down older iPhone models because of their aging batteries, reports The Guardian.
Apple has indeed slowed down iPhone 6, 6S, and SE models in a software update released in 2016. Their reason was to protect the devices against sudden shutdown due to the aging batteries. Apple also planned on releasing the said feature to their latest devices in the future.
This can be solved, however, by changing the batteries on the device. Apple currently charges $79 for battery replacement not covered by the phone's warranty.
