Apple iMac 2016 update: Polaris 10 AMD chip to feature in iMac

With Apple's yearly updates of its products, tech junkies can highly anticipate the release of the 2016 iMac. Their last update of their product was on October 13, 2015 sporting a 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K Display and a 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K Display models.

The new update was gloriously received by public. Engadget said, "The iMac is still the best all-in-one, with an attractive (if predictable) design, near-standard 4K and 5K screens, and even better color accuracy than before. The 21.5-inch version is in some ways the more interesting of the two models, as this is the first time the smaller Mac has been offered with a Retina display."

Most of the consumers are predicting that Apple will release the 2016 version of iMac a year after its last release, which will be October 2016.

Macworld estimated the possible release date of the upcoming iMac. Apple customarily announce their updates around three major press events. The structure of their statements shows that autumn is for new iPhones and iPads, spring is for new iPhones, iPads, Macbook, and watches, and summer is for OS updates and hardware.

After the iPhone 6 was released, Apple announced their iMac update for 2015. It is possible that Apple would do the same for iMac 2016. iPhone 7 is predicted to launch on September 2016. It is safe to assume that iMac 2016 will also be launched around the same time or after the release of the updated version of iPhone.

Apple will use graphic chips from AMD'S Polaris set, having won the contract, and with the recent updates of MacBook and MacBook Air, the remaining products that could use the graphic chips are MacBook Pro, iMac and MacPro. AMD consigned two chipsets, Polaris 10 and Polaris 11. According to MacRumors, Polaris 10 graphics chips from AMD'S Polaris set are suited to the iMac while Polaris 11 is a good fit for the MacBook Pro.
