The Anglican Mission in England (AMiE) has announced that it has a new Diocesan Bishop in the form of the Rt Rev Tim Davies.

The AMiE is an Anglican movement that sits outside the established Church of England. It is part of the Anglican Network in Europe.

Davies was consecrated as a bishop in 2022 and served as assistant to the Rt Rev Andy Lines, who served as Diocesan Bishop for the AMiE before stepping down in March in order to focus more on his other responsibilities in Europe.

Since March Bishop Davies has been the acting head of AMiE. In a statement the AMiE said that the decision to offer the role permanently to Bishop Davies was the result of “a thorough process of references, conversations and interviews the clergy and lay representatives on the Bishop Selection Committee”.

The decision, they said, was made “without reservation”.

Davies was born and raised in East Africa, where he also became a Christian. After some time in the world of business, Davies took a variety of roles serving in Christian ministry. He has long been associated with Christ Church Central, which he helped to found in 2003.

Bishop Lines, who also serves as Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Network in Europe, said he welcomed the appointment of Davies with “great joy”.

“I look forward to continuing to work alongside Bishop Tim in this new role as we seek to proclaim Christ faithfully to the many who need to know him in England," he said.

Rev Mark Rainbow, Chair of the Selection Committee also welcomed Davies’ appointment, saying, “We’re thankful to God for answering our prayers to raise up a new Diocesan Bishop for AMiE, to carry on the humble, Christ-focused leadership provided by Bishop Andy Lines.”

“His heart for the lost and his keen sense of serving under Christ all stood out to the bishop’s Selection Committee," he said.
