Despite the low adoption rates of Google's Android Oreo 8.1, it has released a new feature that helps Wi-Fi users. Apart from that, it will roll out in some devices like the Nokia 8.

The new mobile OS will allow users to determine the speed of a WiFi hotspot before connecting to it. This avoids the disappointment of users who would connect to a very slow WiFi connection. The new interface will use terms to grade the speed of the connection. This includes Very Fast for over 20mps, Fast for 5-20mps, OK for 1-5mbps, and Slow for less than 1mpbs.

Slow connections will allow users to call via WiFi as well as send text messages. For OK connections, users can read website pages, stream music, and use social media. Fast connections will allow video streaming while users can stream high-quality videos for a Very Fast connection. Although these changes are small, it could be a great help to Android Oreoa 8.1 users, TechSpot notes.

In another news, Gadgets NDTV reports that HMD Global recently confirms that Android Oreo 8.1 will roll out in Nokia 8 phones through the Nokia Phones Beta Labs program. In a tweet, Chief product officer Juho Sarvikas announced, "Be our guest as we serve #AndroidOreo 8.1 beta for #Nokia8. Updating your device today will enable a host of new features."

With the new mobile OS update, a new variety of features will be added like the Neural Networks API, new Settings, Power menu, and developer APIs at API level 27. There will also be bug fixes, latest optimizations, and security patches.

Meanwhile, the Android Oreo 8.1 update for Xiaomi's Mi A1 was suspended due to bug issues. Many are hoping that the Oreo update will resume again. Aside from that, Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are already getting ready for the final public release of the mobile OS. Since the beta program already ended on Jan. 26, users will no longer get the chance to give a feedback about Android Oreo 8.1.
