Technology giant Google recently rolled out a new updated version of Android 8.1 Oreo on mobile devices. The features of this updated operating system are an improvement to Android 8.0 Oreo.

The update is actually designed to upgrade the lapses and vulnerabilities of the previous Android 8.0 Oreo. Aside from that, it also added new features such as the new Neural Networks API. This allows applications to take advantage of hardware acceleration, reducing latency, and network loads.

The titan technology company also opened its Pixel Visual Core co-processing technology to third-party developers. With this, new applications installed on a device with an updated operating system can utilize its advanced machine learning algorithms. Of course, this also includes image processing tools that make it possible to shoot in HDR+ outside the usual camera application of Google.

Android 8.1 Oreo has a different security level when browsing websites. Its Safer Browsing feature allows applications from third-party developers to determine WebView attempts. This way, it is easy to detect malicious URLs.

Users are also ensured that no one can steal data from their device. Once someone attempts to open the device repeatedly, it will automatically disable the fingerprint reader. For the notification, applications are limited to pushing one notification chime per second. The user can also mute it as desired.

Android 8.1 Oreo also fixes some issues that include the distorted audio in streaming videos on Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The audio for Nexus 5X is also not playing through the speaker, but this is already fixed in the new Android update.

The developer also announced that it will include Android Oreo (Go edition) in the coming months. The Android Go version is an initiative to optimize user experience. Memory usage will be improved to ensure that apps will run efficiently with 1 GB or less RAM. All apps will be available in this edition, while Google Play will make optimized apps visible to provide better experience to users.
