The reboot of the "Alien" franchise by transforming it in to a survival horror genre has given its developer Creative Assembly some recognition along with its publisher Sega, after the gaming title belonging to the same franchise titled "Aliens: Colonial Marines," ended up being an abysmal failure.

The newly released downloadable content will add a Salvage Challenge to the game's current Survivor Mode, and in the process, players will assume the role of Axel, a resident of the Sevastopol Station and the first character that Amanda Ripley runs in to when the player is controlling the female protagonist. Axel is killed by the Xenomorph shortly after the player controlling Ripley makes contact with him, indicating that the "Lost Contact" DLC was intended to provide a brief history to what happened prior to the events where players assume the role of Amanda Ripley during the beginning of the game.

In "Lost Contact," players controlling Axel will be forced to complete 10 extremely challenging tasks. The entire DLC focuses on players that have been stranded on a remote section of Sevastopol Station and will have to use unorthodox ways in order to complete those challenges. Those unorthodox ways would be traversing through ventilation shafts and corridors, which are the same routes that players would normally take while attempting to avoid contact with the Xenomorph.

The "Lost Contact" DLC will only grant one life to the gamer and every single challenge will provide a unique form of difficulty as well as the adversaries being encountered. After each challenge has been completed, the player will be awarded points and reward unlocks. If the player has accumulated sufficient points, then they also have the option of trading those points for a save slot. However, players should be warned that by doing so, it will have an adverse effect on their final score as well as their position on the leaderboards chart.
