Acer recently announced their latest contribution to the growing market of notebooks, the Chromebook 14. It offers a large 14-inch IPS display, either in HD or Full HD resolution. But the screen size is not the only thing the number 14 in its model name stands for: it can also provide up to 14 hours of battery life.
"Industry's First Chromebook to provide up to 14 hours of battery life for day-to-night productivity and fun," the Taiwan-based tech giant said in its press release.
That is not the only interesting thing about the Acer Chromebook 14. It is also enclosed in an all-aluminum chassis, giving a very premium look and a resemblance to the MacBook Air. It is thin, a 0.67-inch (17 mm) profile, weighs 1.55 kg. (3.42 lbs.) and operates quietly with its fan-less technology.
The 14-inch display incorporates an IPS technology that can provide up to 170 degrees viewing angle with its 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) or 1366 x 768 (HD) pixel resolutions. Additionally, ComfyView technology provides its users with a comfortable and enjoyable low-reflection viewing space, either for work or entertainment.
Performance wise, the newly announced notebook is installed with the Google Chrome operating system and users can choose between an Intel Celeron quad-core or a dual-core N3060 processor. This is then paired with a 4GB or 2GB LPDDR3 SDRAM. This combination gives the Acer Chromebook 14 all the power it needs to multi-task all the apps and online games available.
The Acer Chromebook 14 also comes with a 720p webcam that provides 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, as well as high definition audio and video quality recordings. The webcam covers a wide-angle view so that multiple persons can be seen while doing a video conference. Dual stereo speakers and digital microphone are also included.
The latest notebook from company also comes with two USB 3.1 ports, an HDMI port, Bluetooth 4.2, and a dual-band 2x2 MIMO 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Acer Chromebook 14 with 32GB internal storage, 4GB RAM and Full HD display will start at US$299.99. It can be pre-ordered now on Amazon. As with other Chromebook models, it comes with a 100GB Google Drive storage.
