The 2019 Kia Forte has been redesigned for its third generation. The all-new compact sedan boasts a Stinger-inspired design as well as a more fuel-efficient powertrain.

According to the South Korean automaker, the 2019 Forte's sportier and more sophisticated appearance is due to design cues that were inspired by Kia's four-door fastback, the Stinger.

The compact sedan maintains its youthful appeal but the coupe-like roofline, updated tiger nose grille, creases in the hood and black front spoiler give it a more aggressive and athletic stance. The rear features LED taillights that are connected by a strip — similar to the Kia Sportage. Beneath the lamps are separate reverse and turn signal indicators.

In terms of dimensions, the 2019 Forte is 3.2 inches longer, 0.7 inches wider and 0.5 inches taller. Cargo capacity has also increased at 15.1 cubic feet. As such, Kia's all-new compact sedan comes with a more spacious cabin.

Under the hood, the 2019 Forte is powered by a second-generation 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. Apart from a six-speed manual gearbox, the compact sedan can be equipped with Kia's all-new Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). The powertrain is expected to get 35 miles per gallon (mpg) for combined driving.

Inside the 2019 Forte, both driver and passengers can expect to have a more comfortable experience with a host of advanced technologies. Standard features include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility as well as Bluetooth connectivity. Meanwhile, available features include wireless charging and a 320-watt premium audio system.

Usually only seen in more premium vehicles, the 2019 Forte will be available with Kia's suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies such as blind-spot collision warning, lane keeping assist, forward collision-avoidance assist and smart cruise control.

Kia's third-generation compact sedan will be available in three trims: LX, S and EX.

The 2019 Kia Forte will be available to purchase later this year. Pricing and more technical specifications will be announced at a later date.
