Chevrolet has announced that the 2019 Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD will make their debut at The World Truck Show 2018 in Indianapolis this March.

According to the automaker, the all-new medium-duty trucks will be available in regular and crew cab models with either two-wheel or four-wheel drive systems. The Class 4 and 5 chassis trucks will also have a wide range of gross vehicle weight ratings and wheelbases.

"The Silverado 4500HD/5500HD trucks are the flagship of our full-line commercial truck portfolio and we've design them to be among the best in the industry in maneuverability, serviceability, visibility, quietness and comfort, diesel fuel economy and more," said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, General Motors Fleet.

Based on the teaser image released by the automaker, the 2019 Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD will have a wide stance and commanding presence. The turn signals appear to have been incorporated into the side mirrors while the large fog lights are about the same size as the headlights.

Though full technical specifications will not be revealed until the trucks' debut in March, Chevrolet revealed that the 2019 Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD will be powered Duramax diesel engines that are mated to Allision transmissions. This has proven to be a winning combination that Chevrolet has used on about two million trucks.

The all-new medium-duty trucks will also come with connectivity features such as OnStar and 4G LTE Wi-Fi as well as other communication services.

The arrival of the 2019 Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD trucks will mark the return of Chevrolet-branded medium-duty trucks after the automaker abandoned the segment in 2009.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD will make their first appearance at The World Truck Show at the Indiana Convention Center, which will take place from March 6 to 9.

Meanwhile, production of the all-new medium-duty trucks are scheduled to begin in late 2018.
