Subaru has announced pricing for the 2018 WRX STI Type RA and the 2018 BRZ tS. The performance-focused vehicles have a limited production run of only 500 units each.
The 2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA is priced at $48,995. Similar to the standard model, it is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. However, the high-performance sedan is able to deliver 310 horsepower. The enhanced performance is due to a new cold air intake, a high-flow performance exhaust, a retuned engine control unit (ECU) and stronger pistons.
Meanwhile, the six-speed manual transmission, carbon fiber panels, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension, and modified vehicle dynamics control contribute to faster acceleration and a more stable driving experience.
Other special touches include a Cherry Blossom Red accent on the front mesh grille and rear bumper, an STI front underspoiler, STI fender badges in black, a shark fin antenna on the roof and exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals. Inside, standard features include Recaro seats with red accent stitching and STI logos, an Ultrasuede-wrapped steering wheel, a 7-inch infotainment system and push-button start.
On the other hand, the 2018 Subaru BRZ tS is priced at $33,495. There are no changes to the 205-horsepower 2.0-liter flat-four engine but the sports car is able to improve performance due to STI-tuned dampers and coil springs, new draw stiffeners and an STI flexible V-brace in the engine compartment. These additions translate to more precise handling, better control, increased stability, improved steering and a quicker response rate.
Standard features include 18-inch lightweight STI wheels, an exclusive STI carbon fiber rear spoiler, foldable mirrors, as well as STI front, rear and side underspoilers. Moreover, the cabin features Alcantara and black leather upholstery with red accent stitching on the seats, steering wheel, and door panels.
Pricing for both limited-edition models will incur an additional $860 charge for destination and delivery.
The 2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA and 2018 Subaru BRZ TS will arrive at dealers next spring.
