The 2018 Buick LaCrosse Avenir will have a starting price of $45,795 when it arrives at dealerships in early February.
According to Automotive News, the top-tier trim for Buick's flagship sedan is $3,700 more expensive than the second-best trim, LaCrosse Premium, which starts at $42,095.
The 2018 LaCrosse Avenir is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard so customers will have to add $2,200 for an all-wheel-drive system. Starting prices mentioned include a $925 destination charge.
The full-size luxury sedan is the second model to receive the Avenir trim. Buick released the 2018 Enclave Avenir in October 2017. Since then, about 35 percent of sales of the midsize crossover have been for the top-tier trim. The automaker decided to offer the Avenir trim because they noticed that most LaCrosse customers would choose one of the top two trim levels — hinting that they wanted a more upscale option from Buick.
The 2018 LaCrosse Avenir still maintains the timeless appearance of the nameplate. However, the trim incorporates a design language that is derived from the automaker's concept vehicles. This translates to a more elevated and dramatic look for the LaCrosse Avenir. Also, compared to the other LaCrosse trims, the Avenir gains a more commanding presence on the road.
Design-wise, the 2018 LaCrosse Avenir features a three-dimensional mesh grille with chrome wings, Avenir exterior badging and 19-inch Pearl Nickel or 20-inch Midnight Silver wheels. It is also offered with an extensive list of standard features including a Chestnut interior color theme, embroidered first-row headrests, Avenir-badged sill plates, navigation, a Bose Surround Sound premium audio system, and a panoramic moonroof.
Meanwhile, customers can also opt for other or additional features such as an Ebony interior color scheme, the Dynamic Drive Package with continuous variable real-time dampening control, and a suite of advanced safety features.
