After several sightings in New Zealand and Germany, the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan has officially rolled in to New Century VW along with the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta ready for a test drive.

During the special occasion, Volkswagen put the emphasis on the new Sport and Wolfsburg trims of the 2017 VW Tiguan, which replaced the R-Line and SE trims of its predecessor.

This is a change in design that definitely reinstates the brand's commitment to practicality and innovation in the 2017 VW Tiguan.

"This fun-to-drive model puts the focus on both performance and practicality to create a model that puts the fun in functional," the press release for the event read.

The exterior design of the 2017 VW Tiguan is certainly made more modern. As far as space go, it is 2.3ins longer than its predecessor but the headspace was cut by 1.3ins.

For the interior, the SUV feels premium with its high-quality plastics. The press release from the New Century VW teases heated front seats and V-Tex leatherette upholstery.

Features to expect include a 6.3-inch touchscreen system complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. There's also a 12.3-inch Active Info Display, which replaced the binnacle for a better view of the maps.

The 2017 VW Tiguan offers comfortable legroom for five people, but it is speculated that a larger seven-seater version of the SUV is on the cards. This is after a bigger model of the car was spotted in Europe.

On to the engine department, the 2017 VW Tiguan comes with a 2.9-liter TDI diesel with a brake horsepower of 187. A smaller one comes in the form of a 1.4-liter TDI 148bhp. The latter also comes with a 2.0-liter version with 178bhp that allows for 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds.

The price starts at £22510 and goes up to £32000 with the cheapest R-Line included. The 2017 VW Tiguan is expected to be unveiled this October at the Paris Motor Show.
