Moto E3 release date: new device passes FCC standards, gets splash resistant specs

Motorola 3rd Generation Moto by Lenovo

Lenovo promised consumers that the Moto E line will not be absent for the continued upgrades of smart phones. With that, they recently announced the next version of Moto E, the Moto E Third generation or commonly known as Moto E3 (XT1607).

The Moto E line of Motorola is targeted for consumers who want to spend less on smart phones but are not so high with fast and better specs. Business today dubbed it as 'cheap, but not the best.' Micromax Yu Yuphoria performs three times better than Moto E but costs almost the same as the Moto E2. To answer this call for a better and cheaper phone, Motorola will release Moto E3 on early September that will be significantly improved than its predecessor. It will cost £99 in the UK and will be available from Tesco, Argos, O2, Amazon, and other selected retailers.

Moto E3 has a smudge- resistant screen protector and is also splash-proof. It has nano- coating that serves as a water repellent barrier. Consumers are not advised to dip it underwater, as it was not fully water- resistant. It just protects the phone from spills or slight splashes.

Compared with the previous Moto E (2015), which has 4.5 in display, Moto E3 is significantly larger having a 5in screen with a 720p resolution. According to TechRadar, it has a 1.0GHz quad-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6735p processor and 1GB of RAM which is somewhat similar to its predecessor. It runs Android's 6th major version of operating system, Android Marshmallow. It has an 8GB internal memory with a microSD card slot for added space to memory but are limited to 32GB.

With the demand of better camera phones for the selfie generation, Moto E3 sports an 8 mega pixel camera, which is similar to iPhone 5s, and has a LED flashlight. It also comes with a 5MP camera at the front with a 'Beautification mode' for editing photos.

In an article by Ubergizmo, Moto E3 recently passed the FCC approval and could go for a release in the US. FCC sticker indicates that the cell powering the cellular phone can be removed. Lenovo has yet to confirm Moto E3's release in the US but if it does launch it will most likely be released on September.
