This year's rebranded Nexus smartphones — the Google Pixel and Pixel XL — are both expected to be making their debut at a big Google Launch event next month.

However, reports are suggesting that the new smartphones may be sharing the limelight with Google's other brand new products, which includes it latest virtual reality headset and a new internet connected device.

As previously revealed by several reports, Google has apparently decided to ditch the Nexus brand name for their upcoming new smartphones this year. The HTC-built Nexus smartphones — formerly known as the Nexus Marlin and the Nexus Sailfish — have been renamed and are now called the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, respectively.

New reports are also now suggesting that Google may still partner with another manufacturer to build cheaper Android smartphones that can be offered to the low-end market. The new Pixel smartphones are also expected to be priced somewhere around $649 when it is launched, putting it out of reach for most consumers in the mid- to low-end market.

As for Google's other products, the company is highly expected to be pulling the curtains off its VR Daydream project. The new Google VR platform will reportedly be coming with its own controller and will be fully compatible with Android smartphones and Android 7.0 Nougat. The VR system will be Google's way of fully immersing itself into the VR market and hopefully gaining a head start against Apple.

The company is also expected to launch its new Google Home device, which is essentially an internet connected device that can interact with its user using voice commands. The device can provide a wide array of information such as weather, deliveries, messages, and other data while also being able to control other devices such as lights, speakers, and the user's smartphone functions.

The upcoming new Pixel smartphones, the Google VR Daydream, and the Google Home are expected to be launched on Oct. 4 during a special launch event.
