The upcoming episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will see Stefan (Paul Wesley) go head to head with Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) and Seline's (Kristen Gutoskie) boss, the Devil himself, Cade (Wolé Parks).

The next installment, "Detoured on Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell," will show Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Sybil, and Seline's attempt to take out the Caroline (Candice King) and Alaric's (Matt Davis) children.

Cade will be in Mystic Falls, come "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 episode 6, and will be part of whatever the trio has planned for the twins, although it appears the girls will be an offering to him.

The synopsis for the episode teases that Stefan will do his best to save the kids. However, the episode will also see him dive into his subconscious that will set off "a chain of events that leaves him faced with a life-changing decision."

The next episode, "The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You," will get into detail as to what this is about. The synopsis suggests that it may have something to do with Cade as Stefan will have an interaction with him.

In fact, flashbacks set to be featured in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 episode 7 will see Cade try to persuade Stefan with his "mysterious agenda" that will leave the younger Salvatore with an "unimaginable decision."

Whatever Cade has planned for Stefan remains to be seen, but it will make sense for him to be taken out so that no one else could stop Damon, Seline, and Sybil from shedding blood for him.

Meanwhile, the return of Nina Dobrev in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 still remains up in the air. The subject of Hell being brought up on the show had many thinking that the actress might return as Katherine as well.

Asked if Katherine is in hell, executive producer Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly that she will not say anything but noted that "the visual similarities are not accidental."

"The big question of the season is: How do our characters fit in this world? Are they all doomed? Is there a chance for redemption? Can you earn your way back out of a one-way ticket to Hell? And even characters that have been heroes, are they already marked? If so, what the hell are they going to do about it?"

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 returns with episode 6, "Detoured on Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell," on Friday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
