'Macbook Air' 2015 release date on Jobs' 60th birthday? to get Touch ID

Industry experts speculate that the latest MacBook will hit store shelves in the first quarter of this year. The Macbook Air will reportedly be accessible to the public at any given point in time from February to April, but one particular date, Feb. 24, holds a point of interest as it marks the 60th birthday of the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

The Macbook Air has been at the center of excitement for the past year both among Apple enthusiasts as well as normal users looking for a step up in their laptop experience. Rumor mills are churning relentlessly over the specs of the Macbook and the new features it is likely to sport, including its purported ultra-thin profile and its new Retina display set on a 12-inch screen. There are also rumors that the new Macbook would be available in silver, space grey, and even gold similar to the design concept followed by the latest iPhones.

Alleged images of the Macbook Air have also been surfacing online over the past couple of months along with various illustrations from tech artists who have been venturing their own guesses on how the final product would look when it hits stores. Apple.club.tw published images of the iPad Air 2's Touch ID along with the A8X chip that is reported to power the most advanced iPads. 9to5Mac speculates that if the Apple is actually planning to implement the Touch ID for the Macbook Air, it could give Apple Pay a moderate boost. However, to ensure the viability of this implementation, Apple will have to take extensive measures to ensure the security and reliability of this feature, just like it did for its iPhone.

Another topic that has been sparking a lot of interest is the price strategy that Apple plans to implement for the Macbook in a fast evolving market. The company, however, is still silent about the development, features, and release date of the MacBook Air.
